The Iowa Truck Driving Championships (TDC) is the premier competition showcasing the professionalism and skill of Iowa’s finest truck drivers. Held annually at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, the TDC brings together drivers from across the state to compete in a series of rigorous tests designed to mirror real-world challenges on the road.

Competitors face a written examination covering safety, industry regulations, and operating knowledge; a pre-trip vehicle inspection that demands attention to detail and technical expertise; and a driving skills course that highlights precision, control, and focus under pressure.

Beyond the competition, the TDC is a celebration of Iowa’s trucking community. Families, colleagues, and industry supporters gather to cheer on participants and recognize the critical role professional drivers play in keeping our economy moving safely and efficiently. Winners from each class advance to represent Iowa on the national stage at the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships.
