Fuel Compliance & the Motor Carrier Industry

Fuel Compliance & the Motor Carrier Industry

Wednesday, October 23, 2024 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (CDT)

Description

In this presentation you will learn about our fuel distribution system and the taxes associated with it. Taxes collected on these fuels are a vital part of every state’s revenue base, providing funding for our transportation systems. The IRS employs Fuel Compliance Officers to conduct fuel inspections to protect this revenue source. The presentation aims to educate everyone involved in the fuel supply chain, including end users, about the relevant tax laws, particularly those concerning dyed fuel, and the responsibilities of Fuel Compliance Officers. Our goal is to encourage voluntary compliance through education and awareness. A question and answer period will be included at the conclusion of the presentation.

Discussion Points:

  • What is a Fuel Complaince Officer, FCO.
  • How might I come into contact with a FCO.
  • Fuel taxation - State & Federal.
  • What does fuel compliance and noncompliance look like?
  • What fuel compliance is important.
